A Former PayPal Executive Declares Their Party Conversion and Supports Trump, "Crossing the Rubicon"
Trump's deregulatory agenda will reward builders: Mitch Roschelle

David Marcus, the former president of PayPal, declared on X (formerly known as Twitter) that he has changed political parties and backed Donald Trump. A digital entrepreneur and former president of Meta's Messenger division, Marcus described himself as "crossing the Rubicon" and endorsing the Republican Party and former President Trump's campaign.
To arrive at his final conclusion, Marcus describes an "eye-opening process of disenchantment, zero-basing lifelong beliefs, and rebuilding" in his lengthy piece.
Kamala Harris is endorsed by the United Auto Workers Union for President.
"I am supporting President Trump and the Republican Party by stepping over the Rubicon. Many people, including a previous incarnation of myself, become imprisoned in a mental framework that shapes who they are and keeps them from drastically changing the way they think in response to new knowledge and facts. At last, I managed to escape it," wrote Marcus.
"I have gradually changed my political stance from where I was in each of the prior election cycles. The process of losing faith in long-held views, starting over, and rebuilding has been enlightening."
Marcus shared anecdotal evidence that he was recruited in 2017 to help the Democratic National Convention (DNC) gather $100 million from Silicon Valley in an effort to "avoid a repeat of Hillary Clinton’s inadequate, outdated 2016 campaign."

The DNC only expected to use a "single-digit percentage" for tech purposes, which astonished Marcus.
After speaking in the Senate and the House in favor of Meta, he also brings up an incident from 2019. He recalls, "I still bought into the dominant narrative at the time that Democrats were just interested in helping the People. But I was surprised to find that Republicans generally had a deeper concern for their citizens, whereas Democrats, in my perspective, were more concerned with power and control within the government."
According to Marcus, "the coordinated demonization of President Trump and his supporters, the story of the Hunter Biden laptop, and President Biden's cognitive decline really hit home this trend of spinning and manufacturing a parallel reality to serve the Dem agenda — depriving voters of a voice in a proper primary." These illustrations showed how conceited the current Democratic leadership is.
"You must assume that Americans are stupid for buying into the narrative surrounding these concerns. This elite vs. populace mindset disgusts me deeply. This Democratic Party has embraced an increasingly leftist ideology while marginalizing moderates and centrists," Marcus observed.
Marcus agrees with Trump on foreign policy, particularly in the Middle East, and technological advancements like artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency. According to him, "On Iran, this administration is continuing a misguided Obama-era plan to bring Iran closer to the West by unfreezing Trump-era sanctions, thus giving the Mollahs’ regime the ability to fund terrorism and pursue its anti-America, anti-Israel, and anti-Jewish agenda."
"I believe we need a President who is unequivocally pro: America, the Constitution, business, Bitcoin/crypto, innovation, Israel, small government, legal immigration, free speech, meritocracy, and common sense — and anti: regulatory proliferation, illegal immigration, unjust wars, Iran’s current regime, and domestic groups that oppose American values," he stated.

Marcus declared, "President Trump's platform is centered around these issues." But the internet mogul disagrees with the GOP's position on "reproductive rights."
Marcus mentioned the July 13 attempt on the life of former President Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, to wrap up his piece:
"It would be impossible to conclude this article without bringing up the most recent attempt on President Trump's life. He was shot, but the fortitude and resoluteness he showed to both his supporters and detractors were astounding. This was a man, flaws and all, who at that very moment most vividly embodied the American spirit, beginning to heal the divisions inside the country," the writer wrote.
"In this pivotal moment, confronted with the choices we have, I am endorsing and supporting a return to a Republican administration in 2025," the piece concluded.
